Over a period of more than six years, Mr. Murphy has written nearly 200 patent applications, with a substantial number of them directed to complex inventions in the fields of wireless communications (including handsets and wireless network infrastructure), sophisticated digital and analog circuits, and microprocessor design.

Before joining the firm in 1999 as a patent agent, Mr. Murphy enjoyed a successful career in electrical engineering, with a focus on embedded systems design. In that context, Mr. Murphy worked in a range of technology areas, including microprocessor-based design, ASIC development, precision analog circuit design, and embedded software development.

Mr. Murphy holds a J.D., summa cum laude, from North Carolina Central University, and a B.S.E.E., summa cum laude, from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Mr. Murphy is a member of the North Carolina Bar and is admitted to federal practice in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Mr. Murphy also is an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Wake Co. Bar Association, and the Triangle Intellectual Property Law Association.
