Dave Kalish earned a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Economics. He received his Juris Doctor and Master of Intellectual Property Degrees from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire. Mr. Kalish’s practice includes patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, and related counseling including preparation of applications, freedom to practice searches and opinions, practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office, and opinions on trademark matters including performing trademark searches, and prosecuting trademarks through all facets of the registration process.

Dave has helped clients towards obtaining patent protection mainly in the mechanical and elctro-mechanical arts. Specific areas of experience include laser printers, medical devices, nuclear monitoring systems, vapor recovery units, material handling systems, fiberoptics, wireless communications, business software, and textiles.

Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. Kalish held positions with Champion Products , Inc. evaluating process flow and designing improved work flow systems, and with Travelers Insurance Co. where he performed engineering analysis of construction parameters, machinery specifications, product liability evaluations, and conducting air quality testing. During his law school career, he worked with in-house counsel at W.L. Gore and Associates in Newark, Delaware, drafting and prosecuting patent applications.

Mr. Kalish has been admitted to the practice of law in the State of North Carolina and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the North Carolina and Wake County Bar Associations. Dave is currently a council member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section, and a past editor of IP Links published by the Intellectual Property Law Section. Dave is an active member of the Raleigh Jaycees and served as their legal counsel from 1999-2001.
